laptop freeze up after like 45 mins -

after like 45 mins use or sitting my gateway 3040 GZ celeron m /512 ram . just has screen lock up ! mouse and keyboard wont work . and the on/off button locks up to . i have to close the top down and wait for the unit to shut it self down. and then restart the unit all back up . this unit is maybe 8 months old !

check your power saving settings, perhaps your lappie doesn't like the power settings and never wakes up when it goes to sleep.

Check the cpu fan to make sure its running. Might just need to be blasted with compressed air too.

- Check power settings and see if it's setup to Hibernate or sleep after 45 minutes. Disable hibernation and sleep and see if that fixes it.

Hibernation is sometimes poorly supported or you may have a background app that's interfering with it.

- It COULD be overheating, so as recommended above check to see if the CPU fan comes on once in a while. You can blow out the fan vent BUT BE VERY CAREFUL. DO NOT do this when the computer is running and do just a brief gentle puff. If you overspeed the fan you'll damage the bearings (easy to do) and dramatically reduce the life of the fan.

did a system recovery .was not a whole lot on it .did take about 2 1/2 hours sucks all the trash they load up on a new machine .and then you have to remove it . aol- norton - mcAfee - they sure like to stick it to you .in the name of keeping costs down .
