it's not costing me anything...i'm using gift cards that i saved up for a while.
i just take normal pics...some scenery, family, friends, etc...and this one is rated pretty high for it's movie mode also. that's why i decided on this model vs. a digital SLR...i figured the dSLR would be overkill for my use.

so why dont you pick up a Panasonic FZ5? It is the better camera, (also says so in the review you posted)
I have the FZ3 and it is a heck of a good camera.

here a very importent fact
Canon S2
Panasonic FZ5
as I can see they are priced about the same, so check it out when your at the store.
LEICA lenses are nice too.

Canon S2
In Single shot mode, the S2 IS captured 5-megapixel Superfine images at the rate of one every 1.5 seconds without flash; with flash, the shot-to-shot rate was one every 2.5 to 8.5 seconds, depending on the distance to the subject
Panasonic FZ5
In single frame mode, the shot-to-shot delay averaged only 8/10 second in High Speed AF mode, and 1.5 seconds in 9-area AF mode. Flash recycle time ranged between 1.5 and 3.5 seconds depending on subject distance.

All the best from the west!

the FZ5 was definitely a consideration...i chose the Canon because of the following:
1. i prefer AA batteries over the proprietary rechargeables the Panny uses (personal preference mostly...but i've had proprietary batteries die on me before and they cost more)
2. movie mode...the canon does 640x480 but the Panny is only 320x240
mostly personal pref, of course. i'll read through the Panny review again to make sure i don't miss anything and also check it out at the store.
thanks!
