PC DVI Cable question

Am I going to notice any difference between a $12 DVI cable and a $25 DVI cable for my Samsung 930b 19" LCD?

Am I going to notice a difference going from the analog VGA cable to a DVI cable?

TIA!

No, not likely, assuming the $12 one isn't broken as designed. DVI, like most things digital, either works or it doesn't. If the cable's bad, you'll see it as no picture at all, or "sparkles" randomly over the screen (as bits are dropped/corrupted,) or areas of color "banding" or streaking, such as streaks of red where it should be, say, magenta. Suffice to say, if the cable isn't up to the task, there'll be no question about it.

Perhaps. I don't know about your specific panel, but I've seen examples of good and bad. Some older (~2 yrs.) would always be a bit "fuzzy" with analog connection, but some of the newer panels have very good ADCs and controllers. On my Dell 20", I'm hard pressed to tell the difference between analog and DVI.

M M M M MONSTER CABLE! No not really. I agree with Jim, I would get a DVI but I wouldn't worry about getting an expensive one...

Ha thats exactly what I told the person at Best Buy when I complained they didn't have any cheap DVI->HDMI cables. Idiot still tried to argue that even with it being digital Monster was still going to give a better picture.

Best Buy has the greatest BS artists when it comes to trying to sell you stupid crap like monster cables or monster surge protectors.

Helped a friend buy a HDTV and the salesman tried to BS us into spending $100 (I kid you not) for special "monster"-type gold-plated component video cables. My reply? I'm not going to spend more money on the cables than I spend on the DVD player I am connecting to my HD TV. End of discussion.

Had some nice RCA patch cables in my audio kit that did the job just fine.

Yah, BB has some freaking OUTRAGEOUS prices.. My brother in MD went there to buy some RAM and said they had Corsair for $109 for a 512MB stick of PC3200.. I told him the GOOD Corsair ram was on a website for almost $50 less. That's just crazy! So needless to say he ordered from NewEgg.. lol

Well I think the most expensive monster cable I saw at BB was the 16 foot HDMI (or maybe it was DVI). That cable was $250, decent TV's don't cost that much.

Hey Monster, do I need to buy special ears to listen to jazz music? How come there aren't any Monster Rap Instrument Cables which excel in reproducing sampled cliched vinyl drum loops for 40 minutes? If you do ever begin manufacturing such a thing, be sure to start selling Monster 45-caliber bullets that I can use to decorate my brains all over the ceiling with MAXIMUM BLOOD SPREAD thanks to Monster's patented "MONSTER Explosive© Skull Diffusion© filter using patented TimeCorrection© DynaFlow© UltraMaximum© Technology©." I can imagine the their advertising angle: "The police claimed a single man killed 'Dimebag' Darrell, but we all know who really killed him - a load of awesome Monster 45s, the perfect bullet to make your point! All our Monster 45s are guaranteed for life to have the lowest possible wind resistance and kinetic energy displacement thanks to our patented Nitrogen-gas injected HydroAction© Flex-R-Zap© dielectric providing high velocities of propagation for maximum spread!"
