lost gateway laptop sound _help

i have a gateway 7210gx laptop here
.with a fresh install of xp pro .
it had to be f-disked the kid had . and turned it into a walking virus /viruses in this unit .i found 28 virus of all diffrent types

he was gaming online and his Norcrap was exspired for sometime .
anyway i got all the drivers to accept in the unit but . im having a hell of a time with the gateway supplyed sound card drivers -this unit per Gateway is the same as a m-520 . i like to return it to his dad tomorrow !

did you run it thru windows update yet? sometimes those drivers are on there

ran it with windows xp updates and all still no luck

still no help so e-mail gateway and if no reply in a couple of hours i get on the phone for service !

been working on a laptop for a week only to find out they have the drivers listed online for a unit.same model no .but not for mine -and the unit i have the drivers are not avail except for on the recovery cd -
this is unreal -so im out $20 and a week of trying to load wrong drivers -also feel like a true asshat to a client !
also tryed to order the recovery cds for my personal new gateway 3040GX laptop .told not avail as of right now the unit is to new !

wTF recovery disks did not come with it? Man pay that much for a new lappie I would assume the recovery disks would come with it.

If the driver's on gateway's website don't work, I have to assume that the onboard audio hardware is damaged.
Only other thing I can suggest is driverguide.com
