one big loooong beep...

i have this Biostar board M7VKS with Phoenix BIOS that won't post. all it will do at powerup is a long, continuous high pitched beep. I searched for the beep code, but did not see anything about a continuous beep.

I tried a different CPU and a different piece of RAM, tried it in both slots, a different PSU and i have moved clear cmos jumper (a lot of times), right now i pulled the cmos battery out and disconnected all power and i am gonna wait a while. there are no visible signs of damage to the board and the person i got it from had it for a while and said that one day it just started doing the beep.

Starting to think this may be a corrupted BIOS. Anyone else ever had this happen and did you fix it?

I've had that happen. It was usually ram or video card not seated right.

Be sure all other pci cards are not in, and try. Otherwise try reseating the video card and ram. Which I know you have tried. Perhaps try with the mobo not connected to the case, just on cardboard above the case with everything connected, to be sure nothing is being shorted out. Otherwise, may be the mobo.

Or you could try another cmos battery. They are around $3 at radio snack. That solved a weird problem in a friends system. That would cause the bios settings not to be saved.

good luck

thanks for the input. i tried another cmos battery and still the beep. i am gonna try a pci video card. it has onboard video, no agp, and the monitor jack seems a bit loose. and see what happens when i pull it out of the case and power up.
