Disabling USB Flash Drive Unless Have Passcode

i know there are several applications that will encrypt folders on the usb flash drive
but how about some way to totally disable the usb flash drive unless a password is given

None that I've heard. It would require a special USB Flash drive.
I'm suprised we haven't seen any biometric flash drives yet. Microsoft already has a biometric fingerprint reader. I think it would be possible to make a falsh drive with a built in reader so only the original owner can access the files.

If you encrypt the whole file system (not just one dir or the root dir), you won't be able to read the drive without the password. There's been a lot of work on this in the Linux community; don't know much about it on Windows though.

there are biometric usb memory sticks out there...just not very common yet.
