i used a ps2 hard drive formatting on my usb hard drive by accident. i stopped it when it was about 3% complete, but im guessing it destroyed the file system b4 i could stop it.

I have tried several bakup utils, but none can recover it to working order.

Some of them recovered something but they didnt recover it in a proper format.

Is the hdd totally dead or is there any possible way to restore it to working order with the files.

I could just reformat it with fat32, but i rather get the files that were on the hdd.

I dont remember which files were on it, which is why i desire to have them.

I used WINHIIP, which is the ps2 hard drive proggy.

Its a WD 120G Hdd.

There is a program called Get Data Back for both NTFS and FAT32. I recently used it to recover most of my files 3 months ago when I did a bone head move on my hard drive (I used Ghost to do a disk to disk instead of restoring the partition). You will need to slaved the drive to another system to perform the recovery.

ps2 may use a proprietary filesystem like linux if that makes a difference to getdata.
Did you pop the usb drive in your PC I wouldnt think of trying it through the usb
