Ok i bought this rig some time ago from sombody here. I used it for a few months and it worked just fine with no problems. then it sat for several months. Now im trying to sell it and it wont stay running. Replaced the bios battery, swapped out video cards a few times, reset bios, bla bla bla and its still doing it.
What it does is it will be running and everyhtign is just fine then the monitor just shuts off, no bluescreen no nothing... computer is not responding to the 3 finger. some times when i boot it the helth stuff at the bottom freezes and it just wont finish posting... other times it works fine. reseated everything and even ran mem test for as long as i could (about an hour before it did it) and it passd like 4 times.
Only other thing i can think of is that its from the era of bad caps and thats whats going on. Need to look at it and see and if possible try and RMA the board.

8RDA+ is rather notorious for bad caps. I have one here with that problem.

*knocks on wood* I guess I'm just lucky, mine is running super strong. Does your weather (i.e. humidity) or the place the computer is kept have any bearing on it? Mine is going on 3 years now with only problems occuring when I try to watch TV on my AIW, play a game and do a few other things at one time.. hehe

I loved my 8RDA+ up until it gave up the ghost. It was doing just fine one night I walked away from it to eat some dinner, when I came back the monitor had shut down as normal and I went to wake it up and nothing happened. It never booted again. No warning or anything just died

I have another 8RDA+ that's been a rock. I guess it just didn't get the bad caps installed. Used to be in my LAN party rig and now it's in my MediaPC.
Ego: Moisture won't affect the caps. If you have defective caps, it's a chemical reaction that causes hyrogen gas to build up in them over time.

seems like a major problem now A days with bad caps on computer boards .the quality control at the manufacturer must of really gone down hill . I wonder if Hitachi is the suppler -i think they use to be the no.one manufacturer of them in the world and transistors

yea its got em. I used to have one but sold it to customer and its still going strong... I really love them because of the soundstrom audio. Guess its RMA time.

Ha, I love this bad caps thing. Where I work every single dell we have has needed a new motherboard because of this. Almost 200 computers, it sucked.
