I just got a call from the wife telling me that my usb thumb drive went through the washer in my pants pocket. Anyone here done this? Any ideas if it will still work?

Never a USB drive but I know I have washed game cartridges for my kids Game Boys a dozen times at least and they have always worked. Good Luck

Just make sure you let it dry out. MaxPC did a thing on it and most of them survived. Let it dry out for a week or so. If you can take it apart without damaging it to get all the moisture out that's better.. GL

Shake it out and thoroughly dry it, shoot a bit of WD40 in the USB connector and it should be fine unless it was banged around so bad that it bent the USB connector.
They're pretty much sealed in expoxy except for the USB connector.

Hah... that tought occurred to me too, but I thought it would be silly to ask.
Fortunately I'm going out of town next week, so it should be nice and dry when I return.

Don't put it into the microwave.
Just a suggestion.

I remember the MaxPC tests of the various usb drives when they came out, just remember to thoroughly dry it out before trying.
They were also wondering if anyone had inadvertently done the dog test

, wrapping the drive in a treat and giving it to the dog

then following the mutt with the gloves!

Like an idiot I left one in my car for several hours right in the sun when the temp was around 98 last week. It's all is ok and works just fine. Didn't even melt.
