Huh? How's that possible? The install is less dependent on the CPU and HDD speed than it is on the speed of the CD-Rom.
Whether it's an old 800 MHz Celery or a modern 3 GHz Athlon XP still takes around 20 - 25 minutes to install in my experience.

Not sure what it is, but my install on to my raptor took about 12 minutes. I timed it.

yeah I got an AMD 3800+ and 2gb dual chanel and SATA drive recently and it installed XP in roughly 10-12 minutes as well, I was really surprised how fast it installed, and SP2 installed very quickly as well

I have had quick installs of xp, but only in a raid 0 application. Any other time it took forever.

I stick with Windows 2000 and on my setup it took pretty long. Like 30 minutes or maybe a little less.

Yeah once I get a copy of XP pro I will probably just use that. But I just use what I get through my dad's company, soon they are gonna use XP so thats when I will have it. But I mean 2000 pro is just soo sleek and clean, not soo bulky, and super fast!

Many people have used that excuse but XP can easily be changed to look EXACTLY like Windows 2000. I hate the default XP skin.

Yeah the skin can be changed... But everything else I love about 2000. I have XP pro on my laptop.
