[Rant]

Darn it, my 300GB 5400rpm Maxtor Maxline II PATA drive is lifeless. No signs of recognition by my BIOS or any diagnostic out there. I really like this drive as it was very reliable and was never a overheater. I thought since this drive was a slower RPM that it would outlive them all. I think the controller board is probably fried as i got no clunks or signs of drive motor failure. Biggest thing was i lost all my mp3's, apps and older movies. :mad . Oh well here goes another RMA.........why can't we get reliable drives for the money we are forking up for them.

You might want to try maxtors utility. That 'may' help.

Also, did you try hooking it up as slave to another? I've done that with some dying drives and was able to get some files from them.

Otherwise, sorry you lost so much info. :(

I will try "Maxblast" later tonight.....now to find my trusty ol floppy drive :p

Tried to run as a slve and no dice. :(

thanks for the advice guys. I don't mind the RMA or even losing the investment just the darned Data. It takes time to compile that stuff and time to me has no price.
