looks like #1 son's 8rda+ has developed a case of bad caps

irregular booting

then beeping on booting, sometimes would reboot ok

then the ol' C1 error code, if your hit restart goes to FF

reseated all parts, etc. cleared bios

googled it and looks like the ol' bad cap problem - i had another one i sold some time ago that had the same problem (bad caps) but I didn't know it cause it booted ok

found three caps (smaller ones) with bulging tops, and one that had leaked

probably will just toss this one since i have a DFI lanparty in a box around here somewhere

read somewhere that epox will fix it for about $25 shipped, but doesn't seem worth the effort - probably got close to 3 years out of it - still have one up and running :)

Oh its so worth the 25 bux cause its got the soundstorm on it. If your just going to toss it out ill pay for shipping on it.

I have one here too. Works fine as long as you don't kill the power to the computer (kill switch or pulling the plug) otherwise it won't turn on until it sits for 2 or 3 minutes. It's fine as long as you turn it off via Windows shutdown.

Replaced the only obvious bulging cap, but still does it. Not worth screwing around anymore with it. Pity. Good mobo.

I didn't know Epox was affected by the bad cap thing, I should check mine. My weezerver board has like 10 caps that are leaking really bad, luckily pugsley had a nice nforce board to fix all of that.

The bad cap issue is affecting a LOT of manufacturers lately. I've seen a LOT of bad caps on a variety of mobos and OEM systems.
