does anyone know of a laptop that can take 4GB of RAM? i know...i know...not really a point to it, but someone i know "needs" it and has too much money...so i'm checking into it for them.

i've checked the obvious (dell, hp, sager, alienware) and 2GB is the cutoff. i'm doubting it exists...but thought i'd ask.

2 gb is usually the limit. They don't make sticks larger than 1Gb and I've rarely seen a laptop with more than 2 sockets.

Seriously, even a Photoshop user doesn't have any need for more than 2Gb.

that is what i thought. i checked pricewatch and other places for memory to even see if 2GB sticks existed and they do not. :)

yes, it is a needless request...the person does not understand WHAT they need...they just think they do. :)

thanks!

ABS Mayhem G5 will accept 4GB of ram, it starts at about $2700 and more for additional ram (ADD $561 for that).

I have an optimized G3 with 1gb of ram and like it.

The G5 is one pricey laptop, especially when one adds all the optimized extras BUT I'll bet it's one kick-arse gaming laptop. The reviews look good.
My G3 plays everything I've got w/o any probs so I personally couldn't justify spending THAT much on a laptop BUT obviously some will pay anything for high-end units.
