The tax man cometh and this year he has to pay me so its time to upgrade this ole heep and spend some cash. Ive got my eye on 2 chips so far the amd 3200+ or the p4 3.0 ghz. All i need is some opinions on which and why, and most of all a mobo. I do want to overclock but its not that big a deal now. I just want something super stable and fast for gaming which is pretty much all i do. Thanks for any help

I'd recommend a 64-bit CPU no matter what.

If you don't want to spend alot of cash but want a good motherboard, I suggest one of these.

Have one in the wife's machine and it rocks.

I now have two AMD 64 bit cpu machines at home and both are seemingly WAY faster than the new P4 2.8 ghz machines that we now have at work. To me, the P4 machines seem to run very slow in comparison, like click......wait........oh, there it goes whereas mine are seemingly instant. No, I havent bothered to run speed testing programs to do an actual scientific test but it does seem that obvious.
