digital camera memory question

my sister has an old olympus d-370 digital camera...it uses smartmedia memory cards. :( i haven't paid attention to smartmedia/secure digital/xD and all of that since i always buy compact flash based cameras.

i can't find anywhere that says she cannot use secure digital memory (sooooo much cheaper and larger storage), but assume it is not backwards compatible...or is it? the manual for the camera is so old it doesn't really help or state anything about it.

I don't think they are compatable, and smartmedia is not made anymore

yeah...the smartmedia is much more expensive and harder to find. largest is 128mb. ugh. :(

i told her to just get a new camera...but she doesn't have the $$$ for that. hehe

the ghetto camera has 2mb built-in (hehe) and then also came w/ an 8mb card. i guess i can't make fun of the camera toooo much...it was a gift from me! hahaha of course, that was like 3-4 years ago.

thanks for the link, i'll check it out!

Nope, not backwards compatable.

One thing to watch out for is I'd tell her to only download images from the camera, not any image reader. With xp it seems to do something to the smartmedia and makes it unusable. It's a bug that ms and the camera makers don't care to fool with since smartmedia is no longer being used. Makes some upgrade. Which could be the reason.
