BCM system help - please?

Hey guys and gals,
I have
this system that I use in my car. My problem is this:
I used to run Win2k on it because it seemed to do just fine and I didn't want to stress out the processor and I wanted to use less ram. Well, I've been having too many problems with 2k lately, so I decided to upgrade to XP Professional. The only way that I could get XP to install was to disable the USB ports from the BIOS. After it is installed, it works great until I try to enable the usb ports again. When it boots after re-enabling them it gets to windows and starts to install the USB drivers and hub and it hangs and I can't do anything. I wouldn't worry about it, but I REALLY need USB on this computer for my touchscreen and for my Bluetooth GPS unit. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do about this or what might be causing it?
Thanks!

Maybe you should try a USB card instead? Just a thought.. GL

thanks for the suggestion. However, the system is so small that I cannot fit a PCI card in there. I guess I'll just have to go back to 2k and deal with the issues. Thanks for looking, guys!

Check the mobo manufacturer's website. Maybe there's a firmware update or special driver.

Yeah, I had hoped for the same thing...but nada. I have learned not to buy from BCM again, but I got a really good deal on it and it was perfect for my purpose. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually downloaded a driver set from Intel that was made for the board that is in there and it said that my operating system natively supports each device, so I didn't need their drivers. Argg...I just wish it wouldn't freeze!

There's a site someplace that makes 90* adapters you can use on the cards, you might try that?

Yeah, I went and bought one and the silly thing won't fit because of the placement for the cd rom drive...the case is really tiny with a big power supply in it (compared to the case) so I would either have to have a card or a DVD drive....i chose the dvd drive, since I watch dvd's. Thanks again, though.
hmmm...

TEEEENY TINY Slim Line Laptop DVD drives
That's what I've got...and it takes up a good portion of the case. The case is really small to fit underneath my passenger seat.
Oh, and that's what this forum is for - to toss around ideas - so if you have any more...I'm all ears
Thanks again!
