Welcome to PCA -

try swapping out the dvd for the cd that works, using the same cable and power connector the cd was using

make sure that the drive shows it is (i think) dma enabled in the bios so that it can do data transfer fast enough to keep up with dvd

sometimes dvd drives are only happy when they are masters so if your cd is set to master and is on the same chanel that might be an issue

if you are running win2k or xp windows should autodetect it in windows

good luck and report back, happy to help :)

Thanks

aklso, while you are at it, try another power connector from the power supply, I have seen issues caused when connectors are not properly supplying power to a drive.
