a couple of years ago, when I first set up my daughter's computer, 8rda+/1700, I enabled the auto shutdown at 60C. Someone (probably #2 son) password locked the bios about a year ago, but it was working so not worth the hassle of getting a new chip....I come home from work today and she says there's something wrong with her computer, she said a message came on showing 60 in red and it shut down while she was playing a game

I pulled the side cover and powered it up and the cpu fan was clanking and barely moving - bearing obviously gone - swapped out hs/f for a vollcano 7 i hadc laying around (we are so spoiled with the new heatsinks! - this was one of those use 2 screwdrivers to get the last clip on deals) - powered it up and it's just fine and humming along at 35C

if the bios hadn't shut the puppy down goodbye cpu, motherboard

nice when things work.................hats off to the gnome who wrote the shutdown sequence !

This happens in all newer AMD chips. Assuming its not a crap motherboard. It is indeed a nice feature.
