Currently I am helping a friend build his first desktop (still stuck with his old Dell laptop, I'm afraid its just not up to par to handle WoW that well ). Radeon 9600, 256Mb. $102 shipped. Excellent card for the money. Should run everything just fine including HL2.

the 9600 will run WOW fine - I have a 9600 pro in my compaq desktop at work and it handles hl2 without a hitch as well....worth checking around at the geeks, etc. for a 9700 pro or 9800 pull (refurb) as well - they are faster...but a 9600 pro or better will work fine
