Athlon 2400+ Mobile Question

Just put a system together for a relative as a Christmas present. This chip is amazing... too bad I only have it for one more day. Anyways, I put it in a Abit NF7 and fired it up at 13.5*133. Sweet, running about 30C idle and 33C full load. Then I realized the voltage was at 1.55 and it should be at 1.45 (right?), so i dropped that down to 1.45. It was then idling at 25C and full load at 27C. So about now I'm thinking "damn... 27C full load and i'm running this at 1.8GHz?" Well, this gift needs to be stability over performance, but my system with Abit NF7 has been running 400MHz FSB for over a year. So I put it at 9*200. Wow. CPU temp dropped to 15C (about 60F?) and full load was said to be 16.5C. So I'm assuming this is out of whack... considered my system temp was 18C. So i took out the compunurse and a reading from between the base of the sink and the cpu was 30.5C (idle). This number is kind of worthless because i don't know what it would normally be, but it certainly rules out the CPU running at 15C. By the way, this is being cooled by a thermalright AX7 with a 80by15mm 2800rpm fan.

Any idea why changing the FSB would make the onboard thermometer go out of whack? Also, my vcore reads 1.42V when set to 1.45V. Do you think this is a potential problem? It's running on a 350W Antec PSU without a large load.... geforce 4 ti4200, one hard drive, one DVD burner, oboard nic, sound, etc, powering a supposed 45W CPU (sandra estimates it's using 57W though).

Thanks.

no idea, my XP 2200+ also does the same thing when the FSB or voltage is changed. If it's anything other than default Asus PC Probe reports it at 40*C no matter what temp it really is
