My beloved 8RDA+ gave up the ghost last night. I was away from the computer and when I came back to it the monitor had gone to sleep like normal. I could not get it to wake back up though. Tried to reboot and all I would get were the fans and some HDD activity then nothing. No audio (onboard sound) no video nothing, did not even light up the keyboard. So doing what any good Dad would do I swiped the mobo out of my kids computer until I can get a suitable replacement for mine :D

My deepest sympathies for you Randy :) he he he.. I hope mine doesn't pull that stunt, I Love It!! What was the error code on the mobo? That should tell you what the problem is? You might make sure it's not fixable first. :D

The little display LCD sad "FF" bu that exact code did not show up in the manual. "FFh" says attempting to boot but no "FF" is listed in my manual. I tried to get it to boot out of the case with only the CPU, RAM< and video card but no go and no beeps at all. Looking at getting an ASUS A7N8X-E to replace it. Any other opinions on what to replace it with?

DFI-LAN PARTY!! WOO WOO! lol.. :) heh.. FF I think means Fully Functional.. Mine always shows FF when it's running. So, it's save to say on yours it means "Fully Fried" he he he.. :) But I'd definatly look at the DFI-Lan Party board, it's supposed to be a great board. Otherwise the Asus is nice as well. :)

I hate it when that happens. An epox did the same thing to me. After a boot, that was it.

No nothing on board looks bad , but it does have that burned smell to it. Just cant see any viable evidence of what the culprit is.

They have a 2 year warranty, I just RMA'd one for burst capacitors. Most times they pop open on the top, but occasionally they burst on the bottom. You will probably have to remove the board from the case to see, the bad caps will be leaning to the side and most likely have rust looking gunk around the bottom of them.
