Fan noise

I've noticed that when I do some things (click/move the mouse, press enter, etc.) the whine of my heatsink fan changes pitch(goes lower). Is this anything to be worried about?

That is weird. You sure it's not the hard drive making that noise?

First thing I'd do is a full virus scan, then a full spyware scan. Something could be tracking your movements. Some spyware/viruses/trojans do that.

But what would that have to do with the fan speed... unless its controlled via software or bios or something.

Probably a coil/inductor in the PS or on the MB that's causing the whining noise.

I've seen this before, but usually on OEM systems. The speed of the CPU fan will change depending on what the computer's doing. Not sure if it's just the fan being sensitive to current draw of the PSU, or some sort of speed control.

Yeah I was watching Asus Probe and everytime the fan whine lowered in pitch the fan speed dropped i think a few hundred rpm. It's usually when ever the computer does something like accessing hard drive, moving mouse, typing, clicking on a link online, etc. kinda wierd:;

Nah, its just normal amd heat sink fan whine. It's not a high dollar solid copper heat sink with ultra silent fan. :D

Dells are notorious for doing that, but it's perfectly normal for a Dell.
