yep.

I think it is Mozart or something, basically it is really cheap SB-16 "copy".

checked it again since Mozart OKI drivers didn't work at all...

I can hear extra noise while just playing wavs or mp3s and

sometimes soundcard creates really loud white noise while trying to edit wavs.

after closing programs or open sound-file (sound forge, pd) the problem disappears.

loud white noise peak is really irritating, because it is damaging my ears.

problems started after I updated win98 SE to Win XP.

it there any solution to fix noise problem or should I just purchase new soundcard ?

Get a new CMedia chipset sound card.

actually I would like to have new soundcard with digital input.

A-Open card looked otherwise ok.

I'm still wondering the problem with this 'Mozart' card.

could problem be with drivers ?

I assume it is.

This one has digital jacks.

Yes, it could certainly be a driver issue with your old card. You need to find the latest drivers on the manufacturer's website, but good luck with that generic "Mozart" card.

I'll check this other card. Hopefully I can find it from shops here in Europe.

yep. driver issue can be problem since I think newest drivers for
Mozart card are for win95 or something.

maybe I'll invest few euros for buying new card instead of loosing my hearing ability with old card.

I've had that happen to me with older cards and windows xp. Its definately a driver issue. My suggestion would be to try a few different versions of drivers. If it still doesn't work, i think a new sound card will sort it.

hmm... I installed regular vibra 16 x drivers for win nt 4.0 and it sounds like background noise is gone.
