Recomendations for Cordless Desktop??

I have been looking @ some keyboard/mouse wireless combos. I am wondering if any of you have any input on which ones seem better or worse. I have looked at quite a few and Logitech seems to be about the best. But it's hard to find honest reviews so...

If you have a wireless combo what are some of the pros and cons?? What are some things I should look for?? Is there anything distracting or annoying that I should try to avoid?? It's for my sis, and I'm not sure what OS will be running but I'm guessing it will be 98 or 2k.

cordless mx duo or something like that. It runs great. good distance, rechargeable mouse, and the batteries on the keyboard last a good time.

i use (at work) a logitech duo...MX700 mouse (rechargable w/ base station). works fine.

the BEST wireless i have seen is the logitech duo Bluetooth. the range is incredible! if you want to avoid connection problems get the Bluetooth version...it's essentially the same as the other. the Bluetooth base station recharges the mouse and also functions as a Bluetooth hub for other devices you may want to add on later.

i use a couple different logitech wireless keyboards, one is the basic cordless freedom ithink it's called and another is cordless navigator, which has the programmable hotkeys i found out work quite well with things like winamp.

i get the keyboards and not the combos because i am hooked on the cordless trackman wheel. it has the trackball under the thumb, but i have never seen logitech to put this item in with a keyboard for a combo.

i tried one with a trackball in the center, but it was very awkward to me and made the tendons in my hand tight. the trackball under the thumb seems to me a better ergonomic design.

the only downsides to these products is that they use batteries i have to change every few months(4-6)

also i had the receivers for 2 trackballs pretty close together once on 2 different systems and i noticed that both trackballs will not work simultaneously. so i moved one to another system and put another on a kvm.

MX700 Duo here. Keyboard Batteries havn't been replaced since last christmas. Mouse charge usually lasts a couple weeks, with regular use. A week, if I have been doing any gaming. I usually just cradle it when not in use anyways.

I've got the cordless duo also, except I've got an issue with mine right now. One of the contacts on the base station doesn't contact with the mouse anymore, so I can't recharge the mouse's batteries. Not a huge deal since I can just pop in a pair of AAs, but it seems to eat through standard AAs pretty quickly. I haven't looked into RMAing the base unit yet because I don't want to go without my KB/mouse for two weeks or something silly like that. (If anyone has any experience with this, I'd appreciate some advice).

OTOH, I use a microsft wireless intellimouse explorer at work. Its not rechargeable, but its been using the same AA batteries for close to 9 months now for me.

I'm currently RMAing my wireless gamepad with Logitech and they are sending me a new one and I don't even have to send my current one back. Be prepared though, they want proof of purchase.

Your telling me!! It may be different for the desktop duo but for the gamepad all I have to do is fax it out to them. Hopefully I still have the box at home.

So all I need is the box? If so, I may have to RMA mine. My MX700 doesn't "always" fit the cradle just right. Sometimes it does, usually it just takes a little finagling to get it seated. And it doesn't seem to hold as much of a charge as it used to, no matter which batteries I throw in it.

Not sure. The proof of purchase was for the cordless gamepad I have, not the MX Duo. All I know is that my MX700 does the same thing......weird. The batteries stay charged still but the cradle fitting is weird at times.
