We've been using one in the back of the store for a few months, always ready for action.

So now that my Netgear's been wonky, I picked one up to replace it, updated to the latest firmware, seems to be working pretty good :)

I'm happy with mine too.. Really nice to have the wireless option even though I'm not using it right now.. :) With the 54Mbps speed I've been debating going totally wireless in the house instead of taking the time to drill all holes in the floor and run the cables under the house.. :)

Though it is a pain, I'll always go wired when possible :)

If the box says router, then that it be. Who are we to argue with a box. :)

I just got the Linksys WRT54G ROUTER and The WUSB54G network adapter. I have no idea how to set it up, I tried to but the adapetr on the other comp doesn't work. Works straight out of the box my ass.

The problem is the "Linksys" ;)

Does the RESIDENTIAL GATEWAY work wired as opposed to wirelessly?

I have it working now. Brought his comp into my place, re-installed everything and got a strong signal. When I put it back at his place I got a weak signal but at least could connect. I'll move my router closer to the usb adapter. Hopefully this will work. The only real problem is I cant get his comp to connect if I use wep, wap or whatever it's called.

What's wrong with linksys? From what I've read its better than netgear and dlink. :)

Thanks

Linksys has had some issues lately - some problems with intermittent Wifi disconnects. Firmware update usually fixes it.

Thansk FP. I believe I have the latest firmware. I need to learn a lot more about wifi, wap, wep and the likes.

What do you guys use you wireless routers/RGs for mainly? If its internet why do people buy 54MBits when the modems only connect at 10MBs

The only reason to buy a G router is so that file transfers between computers on the network are quicker than with a B router.... but otherwise internet access will be very similar. Not only does the cable modem connect at 10mbit/s, but actual internet access speed is much slower than that too.
