don't use the ide drivers. I think they still suck.

would those cause the OS to hang?
Hmm, it hangs at: drivers\mup.sys

If you google for mup.sys , there are a bunch of problems.
here is one fix.

I'm still using the 4.24 drivers. I see no need to update them.

Perhaps try an earlier version. I'm using 4.04 and all has been ok so far.
Or uninstall the current drivers and try using just the xp ones. If it allows that, I forget offhand.

Talent and I went through a little spat one night with these things.. Choosing which drivers to and not to update. I know the IDE drivers I have are 5.10.. But when I get home, if somebody can post what drivers are updated, I'll post the versions I'm using and maybe that can/will help?

I am using the IDE drives that come with the 4.24 driver package. Specifically that's the version that shows up as "NVidia NForce 2 ATA Controller (v2.5) in device manager (although - and this is confusing - the ACTUAL version is listed as "WinXP IDE 2.5 driver version 4.12 WHQL" in the readme file for the drivers.
HOWEVER my primary hard drive is NOT connected to the onboard controller. I use a Promise Ultra133 TX2 controller. Only thing connected to the onboard is a CD-RW drive and a removable HDD bay.

Now i went looking at my stuff to see what i had and farted around on epoxes site and found this neat utillity that lets you make your own boot screen. like what dell and gateway does on their machines. Its neat. I got it to work on the first try.
