I'm Building a new comp... With soo many choices out there i duno what to get... Im thinking of a Gigabite Mobo, compatible with an AMD athlon 64 prosseser, with atleast 4 slots for DDR RAM,a NVIDA gefore 6800. Im hopeing to spend no more than $3500 (USD) on the whole Project.
The rest of the stuff i already got (HD,DVD dirive,CD Drive etc)
Oh... im kinda new to building comps this being my second comp ive build. (the other was awhile ago) :)

DFI LANParty UT nF3 250Gb (this MB overclocks like a MOFO)
AMD 64 (highest one you can stomach purchasing)

If you want to overclock, then get 1 piece of RAM, a gig piece would be nice, supposedly the OCZ 3500 EB sieries overclocks real well with this board. I don't like OCZ because of some of the crap they pulled a few years ago, but it seems like they must have gotten their act together now.

An ATA HD. The Raptors are nice, but a bit pricey IMHO. If you going for speed, and it looks like you got the molah, go for 4 drives and set-it up as a RAID 0+1 array. This way 2 drives will be RAIDed to boot up with, and the two others are backups in case one of the first 2 go out. Like I said Pricey. Would just be easier and cheaper to set up a RAID 0 array with two raptors and then get a bigger SATA drive to use for storage. If you got sensitive data on the Raptors, back it up to the larger SATA drive for backup.

Best of luck with it all

Just remember, with the voltage demand of ddr- the less sockets you fill the better- as the frapster suggests , get one or two sticks any more will hinder you overclockability

you got plenty of $ to spend on just the basics...NICE!

3800+ Cooled with the newest 120mm thermalright heatsink
really, all the 939 boards are nice. Personally I would get the Abit and via, but thats just me. or like you said for nvidia the gigabyte
BFG 6800GT OC W/ NV5 Silancer
kingston 1g memory pack
case...all depends on what you like to look at.

Looks like you got everything else.

Thanks a lot guys, i did not know that having more ddr ram sticks would hinder the over clocking, even though im not really planning on overclocking, well i might, just abit,so i think i will be going for two sticks of 1gig each, i will be playing games and loding HUGE 3d files so i will need lots of RAM. for the MOBO, im thinking of this one: http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Pro ... -939.htm#. Could u pls give me ur input on this mobo. The GC i probably go with the geforce 6800, by budget has been reduced to $3000 cuz im goung to buy another HD.

thanks a lot!!!:B

Dude, please check out the review on that board I suggested. Once overclocked, it smokes everything out there, intel and AMD 954 included.
