Ohh think I'll be getting a plextor as soon as the DL media comes down in price. Sams club does not have DL media, but they have 100 packs of 8x verbatim for $60.

16x drives only write for the last 30sec of the burn. [4x(4x DVD+R DL Media) makes up for it]
Going from 8x to 16x will only save you 45sec of burn time =P

I've had so many problems with other brands of cd-r's way back in the day, verbatim always worked. Ever since then I've purchased nothing but verbatim. Maybe someday I can convince myself to try something different.

I've found there are only a handfull of actual media. So im sticking with what ever I can find are RicohJpn R1 coded from user feedback on dealsites(newegg has some right on the page). CMC are at the bottom of the list. Try dvd identifier or Nero infotool for anybody thats curious.
ridata and imation with grey trays are usual the best, but many resellers have swapped to lower quality at random
