Ah, I got a question here...

Ok, first - wow, it's been a while. I've been sooo busy with life and everything.

Anyway, my good ole' IBM 60GXP 40 gig drive is startin to whine, and I feel it's time to get somethin new just in case it decides to hiccup soon.

But, the problem I'm havin is I've been out of the computer scene for so long I have no clue what hard drives are suggested these days.

I really don't care, as long as the drive is quiet and fairly quick, I'll be happy. I'd prefer that I use the SATA on my motherboard, but it's not a huge deal. That, and around $100 or less is prefered as well.

I guess let me know what you guys are thinkin. ;)

THANKS!

Some drives I'm lookin at now:

though between those, id spend the extra 4-5 dollars and get the seagate, its the newest of the bunch, and has better seek timing :)

edit: plus it has a 5 year warrenty, vs. 3 and 1 of wd and maxtor.

it's unfair to say stay away from hitachi.

every drive manufacturer has had their bad lines...

most reviews now point favorably to hitachi's.

i personally buy whichever's cheapest without brand preference. but the hitachi there does give a 3 year warranty...
