Anybody know why they can't just make a floppy cable a floppy cable? I'm sick of having to scavenge through 6 different cables just to find the one that has the right hole filled in. Why do they fill them in at all? Seems like a waste to me.. Oh well.. That's that.. lol

All floppy cables are the same. You don't NEED to use one with the filled in hole - that's just a convenience to prevent you from inserting the cable backwards (but since most modern floppy ribbon sockets are keyed now, it's unnecessary).

The only hassle is if you have a cable with the filled in hole, and the connector you're putting it in doesn't have the missing pin. In which case you can always take a small brill bit or a small jeweler's screwdriver and drill the hole open (the pin isn't used, you just want to make a hole so that it will fit in the socket).

Hmmm..
