Post by UK1nation »

hello all,
im in the market for 2 new 512Mb ddr sdram (400MHZ) ive seen two types

And.................

2:'CRUCUAL' 512Mb ddr400 sdram, 64megax64,unbuffered,'CL3'

Both are about the same in price, but what one would be best? which would give me better usage?

MY PC: epox 8k9a7i,amd athlon XP 2500+,512kb barton,333mhz bus, samsung 160GB 'Hdisk', Plextor CD/DVD writer/re-writer.

And my other question......ive seen agraphic card 'asus 128Mb,9200SE,ddr agp,
>'RAMDAC freq 400MHZ'< ?? would that work on my pc? have ddr400Mhz but mobo + processor has MAX 333MHZ buss..........could someone explain what that means also!

Thanks for your help peoples! never thought it could be such a headache! still done 'ok', 1st time to 'own' a computer and 1st time building one! (but not the last!)

the CL raiting would be the first thing to look at if price isnt and issue.. the lower the number the better.

Pugs is right, the lower the CL rating the better, or faster the memory is.

That AGP card will work in your PC, it's only dependant on the slot you have to put it into. Personally I wouldn't buy that card, but it's up to you. There were and maybe still are several Radeon 9600 or better video cards for sale here, just look in the for sale forum.

Best of luck.

If your in to gaming at all, stay way clear of that 9200 Video Card. I got one, I'm not a gamer, but i did run test like Aquamark and others. This card sucks when it comes down to Framerates.
If your just a regular computer user like myself, Mostly Office work some older games and so on, the card is fine. Budget oriented, but you get what you pay for.
All the best from the west!
