HD Partitioning

OK...I have 2 120gb SATA WD HDs set in RAID_0 configuration....

I didn;t partition the things at set-up and now I really want to take advantage of this option. I takes too damn long to defrag anyways...few questions.

1) I am pretty sure I have to do a complete Windows reinstall to do this....if this is the case, do I have to reformat the drives... It took me awhile to get the HD's setup teh first time to make matching kernal sizes and such (i'm not that savy, but I do read ahead before doing something like this, and installing a smaller HD first in oprder to set the kernal size was a pain, will I have to do this again?)

2) will the partitions just read as extra drives, or will there be a need to install an OS on each partition?

3) I play on-line gaming alot, and this would allow me to store gaming file on one drive, OS on another, music and what not on one, and etc....... what is teh max amount of partitions allowed...not that I need more than 4 or 5 max.

4) Any Advice before i get started on this?

I'm using windows XP Pro, COrp., so gettng updates is difficult to do..... ;) shhh.....
I am currently running SP1, and want ot upgrade to SP2......
I got hit with some kind of virus that Norton isn;t even seeing....it keeps resetting my homepage to a porn site, i can change it manually, and it takes fine, but as soon as I log again, it changes back and I can;t change it unless I reboot.....

well...that's the start of my project......hope you guys have some words of wisdom here for me.

save yourself some time and go buy Partition Magic. It's easy to use and would be quicker than from the DOS Prompt. The partitions will just read as extra drives. I would suggest having 3 or 4 partitions. I have mine set up as

A Drive = a Partition.

OS=C Drive
Games = D Drive
Work = E Drive
Personal Drive (My Documents and other important stuff) = F Drive. I also put my internet cache folder on this drive
Image Drive = G Drive These are my backup images of my other partitions.

This is just a suggestion, but I seperate so if one partition becomes corrupt, I don't lose others.

OK, in looking around for Partition Magic 8...I've found prices varying from $20 - $70.
Is there a certain brand I should be looking for or what? Finding it hard to believe there is a $50 difference in the same product. depending on vendor.

OK...I got Partition Magic 8...only cost me $19.99....it did a fine job at partitioning the drives......however..I noticed the cluster size on the original c:/ is still at 16, whereas teh new partitions formatted at 4....is this going to be an issue with performance?

Secondly...Chotto....you;re one in a million bro..thanks for all the help today..saved me a whole lot of work.

Any time :)

Here's a quick read on cluster sizes. I personally just leave things at default.
