New computer...slower marks than previous computer

Previously, i had an

xp1800+ (palimino)
640mb pc2100
gigabyte ga7vaxp ultra
9800pro (128mb) (cats 4.5)
Win2k (latest patches and updates)

and I got decent scores.
3dmark2001- 11,127
3dmark2003- 5090
Aquamark- 28,973

Now I just upgraded. My new system

xp2500+ (barton)
1g (2x 512) pc3200 Kingston HyperX
Abit nf7-s2g
9800pro (128mb)(cats 4.5)
win2k (latest patches and updates)

And my scores are lower than my previous system. 3dmark 2001 is getting 9700, 3dmark 2003 is getting around 5300, and aquamark is getting around 23,xxx.

I adjusted my bios already, and i dont know what else to do to bring my system up to par of where it should be.

my bios were adjusted in the Abit SoftMenu as follows:

System Performance- Expert
FSB- 166
CPU Interface- Agressive
Memory Frequency- SPD (which sets it to 200mhz)
Memory Timings- Expert
~Row Active Delay- 6
~Ras to Cas Delay- 3
~Row Precharge Delay- 2
~Cas- 2.5 (cant set this to anything other than 2.5 or 3, their bios release problem)

And voltages across the board were upped to the next highest choice
I cant figure out what else to change to bring my scores up. Already had the AA and AF turned off. What else should I do?

Have you tried synching your memory speed with your CPU speed?

Yeah, try to raise the fsb up a little on the cpu to get to 200, that way your memory and CPU are running synch. You will notice a big difference.

I agree ditch the SPD setting and make your memory and CPU run in sync with each other.

ditto.. pull the SPD setting off and put it at 100% so that its the same as the FSB. then if you want you cna start bumping the FSB up and start overclocking.

well i matched the ram with the processor, they are both set to 166.
the scores went up a bit to what they were previously, but they are still lower than my xp1800 marks. It doesnt make sense. Everything is faster than my previous proc, ram, mobo, so even at default speeds, my marks should be higher.

I want to work on getting them higher at default speeds before I overclock.

done a bunch of crap...still no major success

my 3dmark01 score is still lower by a few hundred
mark03 is slightly higher by 200-300
aquamark is lower by 1000

I have tried the new omega drivers, they didnt help. So that leaves me to believe its not the vidcard thats the problem. I think the problem lies somewhere in the motherboard and the way its using the proc and ram

I have changed my memory settings to 2.5-2-2-5 (2.5-2-2-11 which i heard was an nforce sweetspot, didnt yeild better results)

the memory and fsb are matched
I have changed what dimm slots the ram is in, tried 1+2, 2+3, currently left in 1+3 cause i heard thats the dual channel slots. (how can I tell that DC is enabled?)

I might have to pull my old ga7vaxp down and swap everything over to there and give it a shot. I dont want to....but if i do and it shows better results, then I know its the motherboard at fault.

pffftt....that motherboard is crap

put all the stuffs back into my gigabyte ga7vaxp ultra (kt400) and the scores are higher, like where i think they should be

3dmark2001- 14,668
3dmark2003- 5515
aquamark- 35,417

So now, to transfer it all back to the otherboard to back my stuff back up to reformat and move it all back to my kt400

So what should I do with the new board? RMA and give it another shot? or just sell it? Or try returning it? (bought it from ExcaliberPC.com last week)
