I just replaced a cpu fan. I tried to boot up and it gets all the way to checking the IRQs and then I get a message at the bottom saying "ntldr is missing, hit ctrl-alt-del and try again".

I haven't the faintest idea what that is.

Can someone please help me out here! Thanks

I had this problem once before.. Are you OCin'? If so, try toning it down.. Did you leave a floppy in? Just a couple of thoughts..

Is there a floppy in the drive? You'll get that message if there's a non-bootable floppy inserted.

Whew, got it fixed!

I searched in Google and found that same site Executioner posted.

Followed the instructions there for booting with the CD, using Repair, copying those two files and it worked.

When I put the cpu fan in, I had to move some things. When I booted up, I forgot to hook up the power connectors for my 2 HDDs. I then powered down, rehooked the power connectors and tried booting up again, that's when I got that error. Somehow those two files (i386\ntldr and i386\ntdetect.com) must have got corrupted.

I just learned a lesson here. DON'T FORGET TO HOOK UP THE POWER CONNECTORS!

I'll mention one other thing and I don't know if it might have had something to do with it or not. Before I shut down the computer to put the new fan in, I changed a jumper on the mb (the one that lets you boot from keyboard/mouse) from enabled to disabled. I did this when the computer was still on and it started beeping for a few seconds. Hmm.

Seems I had a bit more trouble. After posting, I rebooted and got the same message again. I did the same thing and copied the files again.

I read in the Windows Help on the "ntldr is missing" error. It said a corrupt bios could also do this. I started wondering again about moving that jumper while the computer was running thing. I wonder if it messed up the bios a bit.

I just flashed a new bios for the mb and so far, no error.

Man, I hope this took care of it.

I used to get that message... after a few restarts it works... than run repair.. thats what i did
