SM Bus Controller found and ready to install? I don’t have any driver for such a hardware, I was searching and I found that that belongs to the Intel machines, the weird thing is that I'm running athlon 3000. So I don’t know what to do with this "Found New Hardware" that just appeared without reason.

Please help on this one.

: If you have a pc that is utilizing a motherboard with the Intel Chipset(s):

: Intel® 815P Chipset
: Intel® 815G Chipset
: Intel® 815EG Chipset
: Intel® 820 Chipset
: Intel® 820E Chipset
: Intel® 830M Chipset
: Intel® 830MG Chipset
: Intel® 830MP Chipset
: Intel® 840 Chipset
: Intel® 845 Chipset

: Intel® 855GME Chipset
: Intel® 855PM Chipset
: Intel® 865G Chipset
: Intel® 865PE Chipset
: Intel® 865P Chipset
: Intel® 865GV Chipset
: Intel® 875P Chipset

: Supported Operating Systems

: And any of these Microsoft Operating Systems:

: Microsoft Windows* 98SE
: Microsoft Windows* Me
: Microsoft Windows* 2000
: Microsoft Windows* XP
: Microsoft Windows Server* 2003

: and you are experiencing the Device Manager reported error:

: ?SM Bus Controller

: Then go to the website below and download the file called:

: INF Update Utility [INFINST.EXE]

: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... bmit=Go%21

:
: Before you install it do the following:

: SET A RESTORE POINT in XP/2000/ME or backup your system JUST IN CASE!!!!! better safe than sorry.

: Problem should be solved after restart.

: Hope this helps.

Install VIA chipset drivers in that case, the SMBus is a part of the chipset.

All newer chipsets have an SM Bus. That is how programs like MBM and whatnot work. They utilize the SM Bus and get the temperature and RPMs and whatnot. All driver programs for chipsets include a SM Bus driver.
