Cleaning AS off a cpu

I've been using this stuff for ages and used to wipe it down with rubbing alcohol and a swab or hot water, dish soap and an old tooth brush(let dry COMPLETELY) but just did one up yesterday and it was a pain plus there was still a silver stain.
Has the forumula changed? What else will work to get it off completely?

Goof Off or Goo Gone. They sell them at any supermarket or hardware store in the cleaning section.

goof off bad stuff, unless you really need to get rid of something..
got some black marks on the wall at work from shoes.
used goof off, and took the paint right off, no rubbing, no letting it sit there, just sprayed a little goof off on the rag, and bam, no more marks, or paint!

Shibas, Goof Off isn't to be used on a wall - especially if it's drywall. It's a powerful solvent. It WILL remove paint. Which is why it removes AS easily. Won't damage the CPU.

i put one tbird in the dishwasher. that worked.

and the chip still worked after the cleaning. Granted I tried it on one that had difective L1 cache so I didnt really care. it was just a test.
I use the dishwasher to wash my keyboard also. works great. jsut have to wait for it to dry and you are good to go.

Isopropyl alcohol and or nail polish remover also work very well. I prefer the alcohol because it evaporates quicker and doesnt smell like crap
EDIT: Funny typo

HuH?

Well, I found some old carb cleaner in the backroom and that did the trick, smelly though.
And it did take one of the foam stabilizers off the chip but swabbed with alcohol afterwards. Had this AS drip problem on two different chips now. Must be running hot

I just use 91% Isopropyl. 99% is better if you can get your hands on it. Generally, 70% is too impure and leaves a residue.
