Slow Booting HP Brio

guy at the office has been complaining about slow boots - hp p3 500 128mb ram matrox 8mb onboard etc, he wasn't on my "favored client" list so i just mumbled stuff at him when he complained - his last day was friday so i went in to clean out the machine today - boots pretty well for that type of machine now after removing

4xAOL clients (full :) )
1xAOL helper client
3 web based clock programs
2 web based date programs
1 web based screensaver program
3x bargain buddy type programs
2x earthlink beta popup blockers
and a couple other odds and ends

adjusted IE browser cache from 5MB (out of total 10 MB HDD !!! ) to 1 MB

Hmmm...yea, I really love those kind of users. But then again, my network is setup so only managers have the ability to install software, and even then they sometimes get themselves in trouble.

yea, that is funny stuff.

Wish I could install software on my rig at work. it drives me nutz. I have to go to all these company websites and get countless popups and other junk...but what ever. I get paid to clsoe them I guess.

did you happen to give them a thorough spyware scan? I remember one person I did before had over 3000 items of spyware,(they wanted to know why it was so slow) if you haven't do that too to see what it comes up with :)

haven't had time to do the spyware yet - best i've found here do far was one secretary with 140+
