Anyone have anything good/bad to say about usb modems? Now that I've found out about my ISP upgrading their system to 56kb I thought I'd get a modem.

I've used the Diamond Supra USB modems - they work well.
However if you're planning on doing any serious gaming you'll be better off with a US Robotics external serial modem. Almost all USB modems are software modems, and soft modems aren't good for gaming,

once upon time i had a couple of usb modems that were hardware modems which worked fine - all i remember was that they had US robotics chipsets - otherwise i have used them and they are fine - you can sometimes find the USR externals real cheap which were also very good - usb is pretty much plug and play though - never had any issues

modem? whats that?
Yeah I remember way back hearing that the USR serial modems were good for gaming. But if you dont game I'd say any old name brand modem will do just fine. PCI ones might be a tad cheaper though.
