Fixing Cell Phone

Hey Guys.. I know most of you would just say "buy a new phone" but I don't have that option at this time. I've got a prepaid Sprint phone, can't afford to have a bill right now, and I sure can't afford to change my # as I've got 800 some odd business cards with that on it left. heh..
Anywho.. I have a Samsung 3500 Flip Phone (old school, but great phone). I'm wondering if anybody knows if I buy a used one (one of the arms is broken on mine) if it will be hard for me to switch out the cases? I found one w/a new charger (also something I need) for about $15 shipped.. Anybody had any experience? I can get the right tools for the job, just want some advice.. Thanks.. eGo

well i dont know about that particular phone...but I took apart my nokia 6185 and I would say it wouldnt be hard at all to swap the cases...
As far as I can tell....you got the outside case. Wired into the flip part would be the speaker. I would imagine it is just plugged into the pcb on the inside. Then its all just pieced together. The hardest part is just being careful with the wires and the speaker in the flip part
But if you can just open up the cases, and swap out the innards (pcbs, screen) and connect the speaker and antenne in the new phone to your old pcb, it should all work
So if you get a used version of the phone to experiment on before actually taking yours apart. REMEMBER TO GO SLOW AND CAREFUL and remember to take out all screws before forcing something apart

yeah as long as your slow and careful u should be good. like absolut said, make sure to remember all the screws before snapping it apart.

on some sprint phones the sprint store can transfer all the info to a new phone - might check and see if thats a possibility for you ?

technically, you can transfer any info from one phone to another, provided they are the same model.
as long as they are newer and not those old funky flip phones/brick phones
But not every phone store has that machine capible of doing that.
Then there is the needing of swapping the ESN numbers and other techical hoo-ha that is associated with his service plan. And some providers charge for that
