While working on a customer's computer the main problem they are getting is an error when it starts up. The pop up says :

The prcedure entry point ?SetTAkenByBurnStatus@CNeroError@@UAEXH@Z could be located in the dynamic link library NeroErr.dll

We've tried uninstalling and it won't let us, so we tried reinstalling and then uninstalling and still the same results. I've searched the net and found no luck and it's coming to the point where we're just wasting man hours and I was curious if anyone out there has had a problem similiar or the same and got it fixed or knows of a fix.

The Virus Scan found 70 Viruses to begin with and we think that's what started the DLL error with Nero but it still doesn't lead us to any solutions. Any suggestions are welcome.

i had that problem once, i ended up doing a refresh install of windows, that cured it.

You need to get a program like TaskInfo or something along that line, that will tell you if the nero dll is still open. What OS is this? If it is win98se, windows ME or windows XP, go to start>run> type "msconfig" (without quotes), and see if Nero is starting, or trying to start with the system startup. If it is starting, and erroring out right there at the begining, then the DLL may be locked, and you wont be able to properly uninstall it.

You can find Taskinfo here http://www.iarsn.com you can download a free trial. There is a tab that will show you all the open files. Look to see if the DLL that is causing you problems is in that list. It will tell you what process is also running it. Kill the process, and try to uninstall again. Also, kill it from msconfig so it wont happen again. You dont need the nero check at system startup anyway ! :-)

Formatting never solves the problem! :-D

i didnt format it i just let it delete and recopy system files and yes formatting will fix some stuff cuz it sometimes is less of a headache than messing with gates brain child win98
