Hey Guys (and Gals I know you're out there lurking),

I just wanted to talk about my new rig. Finally got it up and running night before last.

Specs :

Tyan MP mobo
2 x XP1700+
512MB ECC PC2100
80GB Maxtor
52x Sony CD-RW
Radeon 9200 PCI

Half of this will change prior to PCA2K4. I hope to by that time have 4 of 250GB HDs and a DVD Burner installed. This will all be going into my next mod, DRaGoN SLaYeR. I will probably not get too extravagant (sp?) with the video card. I may leave the 9200 in it, or throw in a Ti4400. It isn't going to be a gaming rig, it's just going to be a file server. Possibly a game server. It's going to be in an OLD IBM Full Tower Case that I'm working on modding. Should be really nice by the time I'm done. I'm actually running into some spots where I'd like to do some refab on the metal, but I don't have the skills. It's an old Steel case. It would be nice if I could find some kind of liquid that would bond with the metal so that I could close up some of the holes I won't be using. Would epoxy work for this? Hmmm.. I'm going to take some pictures of the existing fram and let you know what I'll be doing, for the most part, there will be some secrets. Any thoughts and ideas are welcome..

You need to trade that 9200 straight up for my 7500LE. I think there is an unwritten rule on PCA that says you cannot fold against me with a dually. By the way, nice rig. I would have said "Great rig" if it was folding for me.

Thanks for the compliments.. I actually think I'm going to hand on to the video card as it's a good (2nd to best maybe?) PCI vid card and they're hard to come by. It will be nice to have in my bag in case I go to somebody's house (my dad's) long term and I want to play games and they only have Onboard graphics.. lol..

As far as that uh rule.. Uh, good thing it's uhh.. Unwritten? lol.. My numbers should start climbing because it really is a folding fool! I'm still working on optimizing everything to get as much performance out of it as possible. But it finished a 400 WU in less than 8 hours the first night, OH, I mean TWO in less than 8 hours.. he he he..

I'm upgrading my rugrats Slot A comp to an XP2400+. I just might have to get a hub and test it after I get it built.

LoL! /me runs off to buy another Dually Board and a couple of XPM 2500+ and some ECC RAM

All in good fun too. I shut F&H off on this rig when I play games. Here lately I've been gaming more than usual. I'd love to build two more rigs but this room is not big at all. I keep the door shut to keep the cats out and it gets rather warm with my O/C'd XP2500+ running in here.

All I have is my Dog, and she stays off the counters.. I have a 16'x16' Studio w/2'5" Deep Counter Top going the length of two of the walls. In the room I have the following :

Main Rig : eGoCeNTRoNiX
Mobo : Epox 8RDA+
CPU : Barton 2500+@2.3ghz
RAM : 512MB PC3200 XMS Platinum

Game Rig : Computer (didn't feel like naming it)

Mobo : Whatever came in it.. heh
CPU : Slot 1 400Mhz (been trying to OC this POS not working)
RAM : 192MB PC100
HD : 30GB IBM
CD : 40X Max Generic

Dually/DVD Burner : NascarFooler (Like the name? )

These are not my only folders though.. I think I have about 7 other folders, though it seems many of them don't update as often as I'd like. I never turn on the heat (unless it's sub 30*) and I run the AC non-stop when it's above 65* outside because my building is made of tin, so it's like a big convection oven.. heh..

Yah, lots of puters in this room. It's a total mess in here right now. Once I get moved it should be a lot nicer and easier to work with the computers. I think I'm at my wall for upgrades right now. My current rig is running nice and strong and with the addition of a 9800AIW Pro I'll be done upgrading it until 64bit goes mainstream and gets much cheaper. I will probably keep most of the rigs I have now as well for quite some time. But, every time I build a computer for somebody else or work on somebody else's computer I ask (if I haven't already) if I can install folding. Most don't mind, so I gradually assimilate more and more folders. It's just getting them to get online and let the stuff upload before it goes out of date. Actually, there is only one other big computer purchase I see in my future and that is a lappy or a really nice PDA for my business purposes.
