Get yourself some "Monitor Wipes" they have them almost every where from Walmart to Staples or any office supply store. I am not sure but I believe that using Windex will remove any anti glare coating that may be on the monitor.

That stuff is Thick!

I think it would take a lot of Windexin' to remove the anti-glare coating.. lol.. :)

But you never want to use windex on an LCD.. Get what Dad said, or you can use those alcohol wipes too me thinks?

Yeah Windex took the anti glare coating off my old KDS in a very short period of time. Live and learn no more Windex on any of my monitors. For the lint free cloth try any Eye Glass store they have them for cleaning glasses

NEVER use Windex!!!!! Ammonia damages the coating.

Use the monitor wipes, or monitor cleaning spray (see office Depot or Walmart) in a pinch rubbing alchohol works fine too. Use a clean lint-free cloth.

All of the above work on CRTs and LCDs.

I've always used windex and newspaper on my monitors. My current monitor is 2.5 years old and looks as good as new. I think I'll look for them monitor wipes next time I am at OfficeMax.

P.S.
Top tip from NascarFool and it's a freebie !
When cleaning your car windows or house windows, use newspaper rather than a rag or towel. You'll thank me when you do. Hell, you might even name your next born after me. :D

Hhehehehe that's funny. While windex and newspaper is good for windows, I don't think it's really good for monitors. Newspaper doesn't streak that's why it's better for windows than rags and paper towels.

YEPPERS I believe it is something in the ink that cleans well and keeps it from streaking. Give it a try

I use Gunk on my mine have for the last 8 years on 2 different monitors. it has ammonia and i have yet to damage a monitor. It sounds like you are possibly a smoker and just not getting the glass clean enough. smoke film is a pain in the ass to remove. i know... and the Gunk cuts right through it :D

My grandmother use to do her outside windows with newspaper and kerosene! Glad she didn't smoke..... :D

Worked quite well too....
