*************FOLDERS - VIRUS SCAN NOW

Post by wvjohn »

got home tonight Norton is going crazy about virus hit after a routine scan - many in the folding directory - with folding type names - admin privileges were all screwed up - norton was screwed up - i shut it down until i have some time to investigate

this is on a win2k machine - xp machine sitting next to it is fine

this box is scanned by norton and avg every night -

do yourself a favor and scan now :)

will post more details later, of course tonight all the kids are in outright rebellion :)

UPDATE:

ok, fired my rig back up so i could sidescan it from another box

nada, zippo

norton log shows nothing

rescanning now - c drive is clean, now on d

weird.................

but I keep on getting a virus detected and deleted. Something called MSMSGRI32.exe, detected as Proxy-Slanper- Trojan

its always deleted...but gets created again and I cant figure out why....nothing is showing any details about it

i updated all the av software and ran full scans - system was a little flaky from heat issues at tht time this happened - unless there is a virus out there than can erase both norton and avg scan logs....i will run awadare and spybot tonight to make sure there is nothing else

very odd - i didn't write down the names that the av proggies were showing b/v the system was hard locked
