USB Keyboard issue

I just built a new system with an AMD 2600 and the A7N8X Deluxe motherboard (rev 3) with Windows XP Pro.

I had a USB keyboard and USB mouse hooked to it. Even though the USB keyboard is supposed to work before Windows loads, it didn't. When trying to boot to CD, I pressed the key and nothing happens. I had to hook up a ps2 keyboard to install. Installed with USB mouse fine.

Anyway, the install went fine but as soon as I shut down and hooked up the USB keyboard again, I get an error (yellow exclamation point) in Device Manager under one of the "Motherboard Resources" entries (there are three of those entries but only one had the yellow point). Clicking on it says Device driver cannot be loaded because of a duplicate device, Code 42 (That quote is not exact but close). That happens with or without enabling the Legacy USB support in the BIOS.

The system works fine as far as I can tell but I can't get rid of that yellow point. If I put the ps2 keyboard back in, the yellow exclamation point goes away.

Any idea what is causing this?

In BIOS there should be a setting for "USB Keyboard DOS Legacy Support" or something like that. Make sure it's enabled. Usually it defaults to off (why, I don't know since USB keyboards are so common now).

Dunno what's up here. Yes, I have tried enabling the Legacy USB Keyboard support in the BIOS. I tried it both enabled and disabled. The usb keyboard works in Windows XP either way, but I get the yellow exclamation point either way also.

Only unhooking the usb keyboard and putting in a ps2 one takes the yellow exclamation point away. I even tried uninstalling that one motherboard resource in Device Manager and rebooting. Comes back in with yellow exclamation point.

BTW, here is the exact message I get when I click on that one motherboard resource.
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system. (Code 42)

This is a clean system. As I said it was a brand new computer, with the only device in it being the vid card, usb mouse, usb keyboard.

I'm using the latest Nvidia Nforce 2 drivers. I even tried a Windows repair. Same thing.

Again, what Brand and model is it and does it have extra USB ports on the keyboard ? The reason I ask is because I had an HP (Silitek) USB keyboard and it would not work on an nForce board.
