Ok here's my setup

128 megs of PC133
P!!! 450@504 (SL35D)
Elitegroup P6BXT A+ (mobo can't do any higher than 112 FSB...only made to do 100...)
TNT2 Ultra- Viper V770
Voodoo 2
Diamond MX 300
Aopen 56K modem (PCI)

Curently... I am using the voodoo2 to do all my gaming...My TNT 2 runs like crap ! I have tried a half a dozen different drivers, and right now am using the Viper Drivers from Diamond's website. I played the Quake 3 timedemo 1 to check frame rates and was horrified....
My TNT2 Ultra gets 38.7 FPS with the settings at
800X600, 16 bit color and everything turned to high detail...
my V2 at the same settings gets 32 FPS.... What is up with that? that's NOT RIGHT !! this is the most expensive 2D card I have ever bought...seeing as I can't use it for games.... Does anybody know what the hell is up with this? and know how to fix it? Bios settings...drivers...windows settings...anything !!!??? I will post up my 3D Marks once I run the test. somebody help me out please.

what OS? 98? you tried the Detonator 3 drivers? whats the BIOS setting for AGP Texture memory (or whatever its called) set to? 32mb, 64mb or 128mb? How about the bios setting for AGP 1x 2x? What version of Directx u running?

FYI if you use a different board, that sl35d WILL do 133mhz bus

can you use detonator 2 in winme? detonator 3's are optimized for geforce cards.

TNT2 Ultra should easily outperform a single V2.

I recommend the OFFICIAL (not beta or leaked) Det3 driver (v6.31): http://www.nvidia.com/products.nsf/html ... ator3.html

With your rig you should be running Q3 in the NORMAL video setting in the Q3 video menu. That'll default to 640x480 though. Test the fps at that res first and then try 800x600, but given your CPU and card I think you'll be best off at 640x480. You should see somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 fps at 800x600 if that's a Coppermine CPU (you didn't say).

Some things to watch out for with that TNT2 because it's a TRUE AGP card:

- Remove any utilities for your old video card (Voodoo cards for instance install 3Dfx tools which MUST be removed via the Add/Remove icon in Control Panel). Also, you should ALWAYS change the video driver to "Standard VGA" first before swapping cards to purge the old driver. If you didn't do that before, do it now. Change it to "Standard VGA", reboot and it'll redetect the geforce and ask you for drivers.

- If you're overclocking (either the vid card or the cpu), don't and see if that helps.

- In the motherboard's BIOS menu, make sure that "Assign IRQ to VGA" is enabled and that both "Video BIOS Caching" and "Video Ram Shadow" are disabled. Set "AGP Aperature" to 64.

- If you have AGP 4x enabled (assuming your mobo supports it), disable it - many mobos don't properly support AGP 4x.

- Go to the mobo manufacturer's web site and see if there's an updated Flash BIOS for your mobo. It could be your AGP bus support isn't up to spec.

- You may not have the proper or the latest drivers for you mobo's APG to PCI Bridge. The Geforce is a true AGP card (unlike 3Dfx cards) and is very fussy about having the AGP bus setup properly. This is a MAJOR gotcha. Windows will install the wrong mobo drivers until you update them. There should be drivers that came with mobo on a CD, but you should download the latest version from the mobo manufacurer's web site.

- It's possible that some other device is causing the problem. Best way to isolate it is to pull ALL your cards except the vid card (IMPORTANT: note what slot each card was installed in). Play the misbehaving game and see if it runs stable (yes, the game should run just fine without a sound card installed). If it behaves, install each card ONE BY ONE starting with the sound card until you isolate the bad boy. It's important to put the cards back in their original slots to avoid PCI IRQ Sharing problems (see next paragraph).

- You may have a card that has a PCI IRQ channel sharing problem (NOT the same as an IRQ conflict). The SBLive, NICs and SCSI controllers are very prone to this. Fix is essentially the same as mentioned in the previous paragraph except when you find the misbehaving card, you need to move it to another slot.
