I just got and installed an Optorite 8x DVD Burner. When I boot up and XP loads it identifies the product and then i get the "found new CD-Rom balloon", then the machine restarts and keeps restarting each time at the balloon. Any suggestions?

I have a hmmm....copied version of XP Pro...hmmm. Does that service pack upgrade have anything to do with it since I can't dwnld that particular update?

What IDE channel is it on?
Are there any other devices sharing the same IDE channel that the dvd is on?

Yah its a master to my dvd rom drive i tried cable select and master setting. There was a cd burner there before but i uninstalled the drivers before i put in the dvd burner.

Got it!!! Weird all i did was unplug the power to the slave and it installed just fine. Shut er off plugged the slave back in and walla!
