does anyone know how to prevent the eax console from automatically "starting up" and showing on system tray?

i noticed that my games run like crap with it running in the background. i know i can most likely disable with "msconfig.exe" but is there an option to disable it within the program itself?

Turn that crap off. You can always bring up the environmental settings using the shortcut in the Programs list.

Run MSCONFIG.EXE, click on the Startup tab. You should see 2 or 3 items in that list that have to do with the Audigy. You should be able to tell it's associated with the sound card by the location path for the file - the ones you want will all probably point to to \PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE or whereever the sound utilities are installed.

Uncheck them.
