I finally got my dual monitors on Friday, but I hav not had time to set them up.

I got them set up yesterday.

These are Dell 1901FP's.
I have gamed on them a bit, and there has not been a ghosting issue.

You'll want to install Ultramon2. Nice dual monitor utility: http://realtimesoft.com/ultramon/

My buddy had a dual monitor question for me, and I didn't know the answer. He wanted to be able to watch TV on one monitor, and then do work on the other. Is it possible? Do the dual monitors create a multiple desktop deal?

Yeah it's possible in a sort. If I had dual monitors i could start up my TV tuner software and then drag it over to the second monitor.

That's the whole beauty of dualies. You can have a window open on each screen, or even have one big spreadsheet open across both screens.

REAL useful for Photoshop users: I leave my photoshop workspace on one monitor and have all my tool windows on the second monitor.

You can setup a dual monitor rig to be one continous large desktop. Then you can open your video player and drag it to whichever monitor you want.

Whether or not it will stay on that monitor the next time you open it depends on the player. Some remember the exact screen coordinates and some always default to the primary display.

The UltraMon utility I mentioned above can help fool some apps into opening on the window you want though.

Also if you drag a Media Player window to the 2nd monitor while it's playing, the picture may vanish. That's because some drivers lose the video overlay. You can fix that by closing the window and opening it again - assuming the app remembers which monitor you want it on.

If you're using a Radeon, try the newest version of Hydravision ( full version, not lite ). It's improved quite a bit in the last few revisions and it's free. :)

You can use the hotkey functions to "snap to monitor # x" and also preset your window size requirements in addition to what monitor you want various apps to appear on.

Ultramon is a nice prog too but they're going to want cash after 30 days of trial.

I'm using Hydravision. After I got it set up, it's OK. I'm sure it's not as good at Ultarmon, or even Nvidia's NView solution.

You've stepped onto a slippery slope my friend...

Welcome to the club. Now try three. :D

I would run three, but I really don't need them. Besides the Matrox Parhelia isn't much of a gaming card.

Just use a PCI card for #3. Or maybe get a dual output PCI card & use it for #2 and #3. Or you could get a G450 MMS Quad head (drool) or two...
