Tried it for a year but gave it up a year ago. With the performance of modern drives with 8Mb buffers the gain isn't all that great, and I don't like the increased risk. Also I'm trying to keep my rig as quiet as possible nowadays and two drives is too much noise.

2 Raid 5 arrays in my file server. One with 4 x 200G IDE's and another with 4 x 120G IDE's. All PATA drives converted to SATA with High-Point's Rockethead adapter. Using a High-Point RocketRaid 1820 for the controller.

3 Arrays, all software raid. Haven't found a cheap FC-AL raid controller yet & I really don't care on the server. All those dual P3s have to do is read disks, play firewall, and route packets. Overkill I know but it used to be my main workstation's board & procs.
Main Rig
Boots off a single 15k.3 36GB.
Windows
4x 18 FC-AL Raid 0 for games & stuff. (ie- unimportant things)
Linux
2x 18GB FC-AL Raid 1 for home dirs.
Server box (runs Linux)
2x 18GB SCSI for / and home dirs.
