Well, got an Xmas present early.. JVC GR-DVL520U I am amazed with this thing! So far all I've been able to do is play with the Still Photo feature of it as I don't have any blank cassettes. And it takes really good pictures! 1024x768 res. It's got a lot of nice features as well! IR remote fun stuff like that. I've still got a lot of reading to do. Best thing I like is being able to transfer directly to the PC and bypass video all together. I'm getting a DVD+- R/RW so I'll just burn all my stuff directly to DVD.. Fun Fun.. I'm gonna be shooting a ton of video I can see it already. I really like this thing. Can anybody give me any tips on "proper" techniques for shooting? I took an Media class in high school and I'm famiilar with most prcatices and such. i.e. not cutting people off at natural joints and what not. Is it better to let the camera white balance itself, or should I do it manually? I'll probably have a lot more questions which I'll add to the Video forums later.. eGo

Nice i looked at it and just got my cam off layaway, i opted to spend a few more bucks for a canon zr60.

I still gotta do alot of learning as well, but I can tell you since these are both single small ccd cams , our cameras will be grainy in low light situations ie indoor .. Things to consider is to lower the ae(apature)
and play with the shutter speed for these situations (1/60) is probably good but YMMV- both these setting are generally on auto from the factory

Im gonna end up getter a moutable light eventually for mine and so i dont have to worry about that..
